The absolute beauty and uniqueness of the flowering plant has always appealed to me. The carpeted meadows shower the casual backcountry wanderer with a storm of color. How can you not help but feel in awe of the natural world through which we pass?

And when you stop to admire the individual you find incredible diversity in the shapes, colors, smells, and textures of the beauty before you.

For me started simple enough... I just wanted to know what the names of all the flowers by which I passed. I love the mountains. And I wanted to know more about the flowers. I just wanted to know their names.

But when I started looking I couldn't find the flowers the way I saw them. I couldn't find them by color, by the numbers of petals. So, as I gradually learned more about the flowers around me I thought I'd share what I've seen and learned. Maybe it'll help you too.

There are some really good Utah specific sites about wildflowers. I've listed the ones I found most helpful on the right. But I'm still learning. I hope as I learn more this site will grow to incorporate the new knowledge. But for now, I'm sure you'll find errors. In the future, I'm planning on adding something for feedback.
